A Crucified Life - - Our Eternal View

2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but is on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

*Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 4648
Fix Our Eyes: to look at, contemplate
From the Greek word 'skopeó' (skop-eh'-o)): regard attentively, take heed, beware, consider, mark, have regard to.

FIX OUR EYES
Hebrews 11:13 (regarding the people who believed the promises of God before the Promise came in the person of Jesus Christ) "All these people died in faith, without having received the things they were promised. However, they saw them and welcomed them from afar. And they acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth." Their faith was counted unto them for righteousness (Romans 4:3-22 [Abraham]; Hebrews 11:39-40 [untold numbers of faithful believers]).
2 Corinthians 5:7  For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Romans 8:24  For in this hope we were saved; but hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he can already see?
Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see.
We should never lose sight of the Promise, for having placed our hope in Christ, we are now bound to Him and look forward to meeting Him face to face. When this fleshly veil is removed from us, and our glorious bodies are revealed, then we shall meet Him as He is.
WHAT IS UNSEEN
As the song by MercyMe states, "I can only imagine" what God has in store for us. But we are given glimpses of heaven, peerings into the glories of our eternal destination.
>Revelation 22:1-5
>Psalm 46:4
>Revelation 4,7,21
>Ezekiel 48:35
So much wonderfulness to look forward to. Don't you think so, too? But who will we see there?
>Hebrews 12:1-2 "a great cloud of witnesses" (those martyred for their faith) and "Jesus the Author and Finisher of our Faith".
>Revelation 19:1-16 "a great multitude", "the Lamb and His bride", the Rider on the white horse.
>1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 "the dead in Christ" (they who died before His second return) and "they who are alive at His second return".
>1 Corinthians 15:51-54 "we will be raised changed".
ETERNAL
But all of this wonderfulness is only for the believers of God's Promise. We urge you who do not believe, therefore, to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, to claim Him as your own Lord and Savior. To acknowledge that there is no other God and Savior. To begin to follow Christ and live the Word in the power of God's Holy Spirit. We plead, we beg, we ask that you reconsider your ways and walk faithfully in the path of life which God is setting before you. Eternity is forever.
    *Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 166
Eternal: age-long, and therefore: practically eternal, unending; partaking of the character of that which lasts for an age, as contrasted with that which is brief and fleeting.
From the Greek word ' aiónios' (pronounced ahee-o'-nee-os):  "Eternal  life operates simultaneously outside of time, inside of time, and beyond time – i.e. what gives time its everlasting meaning for the believer through faith, yet is also time-independent."
(Figuratively) the unique quality (reality) of God's life at work in the believer, i.e. as the Lord manifests His self-existent life (as it is in His sinless abode of heaven). [from Word Studies]
Eternity is forever. Heaven is forever. The lake of fire into which hell and death and their residents are thrown is forever.
In heaven is the glory of God, the King of Kings, the Spirit of God, God's faithful angels and all of God's people.
In the lake of fire is everyone who turned their hearts against God. This includes Satan/Lucifer/the devil, the angels who followed him out of heaven, and all the people who turned their hearts against the Word of God.
We have for our example of this the parable of The Rich Man and Lazarus the Beggar, as related in Luke 16:19-31. We know from our reading here that the rich man in hell had all his senses intact. He was hot. He knew thirst. He knew pain. He could see. He could taste. He could hear. He could speak.
Lazarus in paradise with Abraham was near water. The water the rich man in hell asked for. Even in his agony and torment, the rich man demanded to be served; to be served by a man he ignored in life.
But the gap between heaven and hell could not be breached by either.
Even now the believers around the world are standing in the gap, praying for the lost and the dying unbelievers to receive Christ and live with Him forever and ever. When we kneel in prayer, we are not only humbling ourselves before our God, we are committing to pray for each other's souls; we are battling the forces of darkness every time we open our mouths and our faith in the Promise of God springs forth.

Heart & Soul - - Germination

Colossians 3:1
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God.

*Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 4891
Raised: to raise together
From the Greek word 'sunegeiró' (pronounced soon-eg-i'-ro) meaning " I raise along with".
"To raise up together from moral death to a new and blessed life devoted to God."
RAISED WITH HIM
We are risen from the dead with Christ when we believe in His Name for our salvation (Romans 10:13). For His very Name is Savior (Matthew 1:21; Luke 1:31).
Colossians 2:12 "And having been buried with Him in baptism, you were raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead." Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."
ALIVE TO GOD THROUGH THE CROSS
    Romans 6:3-5
(3) Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? (4) We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life. (5) For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.
    Galatians 5:24
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
    Galatians 6:14
But as for me, may I never boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world
I am alive to God through the cross, through the crucifixion of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, who died for me, to save me from the punishment of my sins. He died for you, too. And those who believe, who call on His Name to save them, have died with Him; for we are now in Him and He is in us, as He prayed in the garden in John 17:20-26. It's a lovely prayer.
If a person hasn't come to the cross to lay their burden of sins down there, then they need to do so soon, very soon. Christ is returning soon and very soon. It will be near impossible to come to Christ when God calls His church into His presence. (1 Thessalonians 4:14-17). I'm so excited! Aren't you?
    SEEK THE THINGS ABOVE
What are the things above that we, as citizens (Philippians 3:20) of heaven, should be seeking? What are we looking for, searching out? Matthew 6:20-21 tells us "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust corrupts, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
>ETERNAL LIFE is our greatest treasure. But to have it there we must first claim it here. For it is both our now reward for we live in Him now and our later treasure up there. We will get new bodies, changed bodies . As a seed that is planted in the ground does not remain a seed but changes and grows into whatever the seed was destined to become, we, too, will be changed.
The seed goes through a transformative process to become what will be seen. In science it is called germination. In Scripture it is called 'from glory to glory' (2 Corinthians 3:18).
ROOTS AND SHOOTS
  • The seed's first stage is getting water to begin the process. For the Christian that water is the Holy Spirit. Before anything else worthwhile can happen in a Christian's life, the Holy Spirit must be present in us. The seed first grows roots to reach into the ground and find water. The Christian's roots are in the Word of God, we dig deep into His Word to find our resources for growth.
  • The seed's second stage is oxygen. It needs to breathe. For the Christian that oxygen is the presence of God, for He gives us breath.
  • The seed's third stage is the right temperature in which to flourish. For the Christian the right temperature is persecution. For the church grew when the Word spread through the Christians who fled the cities where they were being hunted and killed for the Name of Jesus. Hard to believe that we require such uncivilities to grow in our faith, isn't it? But in the Christian life this requirement is akin to the dirt in which the seed has been buried. It must push through, up and out in order to reach the sun and become a seedling, a young plant. During this stage of development the seed, the Christian, breaks through the hard shell surrounding it; we tear down walls and the new life that is growing us shoots upward to break through the ground (the fears, doubts and ponderings) in which it is buried and become a sprout, a new life, which will grow and become stronger in the light of God's love and mercy. Grace Like Rain.
  • The seed's fourth requirement is light: it requires sunshine and warmth. So, too, the Christian requires Sonlight. We strive, persevere, and push through the obstacles to reach the Christ in Whom our lives shine.
  • The seed's fifth and final stage is the transformation into what it was created to be. Its roots have driven deep into the ground, its shoots have made their final push through and up, its leaves are releasing oxygen and its purpose is made known when its fruit (plant type) is visible to everyone who sees it. So, too, is the Christian's life. They who see us know we are Christians even before we open our mouth to speak. For the glory of the Lord shines in our faces.
CHRIST AT THE RIGHT HAND OF GOD
How wonderful to be a seed in the garden of God, to be the planting of the Lord! Rise up, O Christian, and be who the Lord is calling you to be! See Him in all His glory, where He is seated at the right hand of His Father. Ask you how we know He is there? The Word states this is so. He has been seen there.
    Acts 7:55-56
55) But he (Stephen) being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. (56) And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
    Mark 16:19
After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
    Daniel 7:13
In my vision in the night I continued to watch, and I saw One like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence.

Someday soon we, too, will see Christ at the right hand of God. For God's Word is True & Faithful. God never lies. God is Love, not chaos. All will see Him but not all will remain with Him. Only the ones who have believed on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation and turned their backs on the temptations of this world, choosing to live for Him.
Have you said, Yes, Lord, I am Yours? Have you surrendered your heart and your life to Him? Hurry, hurry; come to the altar and give God your heart, that He may plant Himself in your heart. changing you according to His will and purpose for  you. Like He did me.
Every day is a new challenge, a new opportunity to serve Him and be of use to Him in His kingdom. Every day is a day of growth, a day of spreading the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, in the hopes that the hearer would receive it into their own hearts.
We pray, Lord, be my Lord. I am a wretched sinner and I have transgressed against You. I have broken Your laws and I need Your Savior. I need Jesus Christ to wash my sins away in the blood He shed for me on the cross. I need His resurrection power to become the Christian You want me to be. I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. As I commit myself to You, Father, strengthen me in Your Word and  Your Love. Guide me, lead me, guard my tongue, that I may speak only the words You give me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may walk in this new life which You have given me. I praise You and thank You for saving me, filling me and leading me. In Jesus' Name, we pray, Amen.

Intelligent Worship -- Seek God -- Part 2

Now that we recognize the Authority of the One True God, we earnestly desire to know Him better, so we Seek Him out, craving with all our hearts to hear His voice more clearly, that we may understand His Word more readily.

Isaiah 55:6
Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near.
Matthew 6:33
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Luke 11:9-10
So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

In Isaiah 55 it is the Lord God Who is speaking. From verse one all the way through, we read and hear the Lord God speaking to us: from the promise to the warning to the reward.
The Lord God will not always be found for one day He will not only pull His church from the face of the earth, but His Holy Spirit will leave, too. He will be sought by many who waited to long to surrender their hearts and their decision to believe in Him will be at the cost of their lives.
Revelation 14:14-20
They who do not take the mark of the beast will be made to suffer and be killed for their decision. Many will refuse to take it and not still not believe the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ. But those people who do believe will be added to the growing list of martyrs whose names are written in the Book of Life (Revelation 17:6).

You know, once you start reading Revelation it's really hard to stop. Seeking the Lord is fulfilling to the heart and the spirit of me, as it surely and hopefully is to you, too.

David wrote in Psalm 34:8 "Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" To 'taste' here means 'to perceive, to know, to examine by tasting' in small quantities at a time to the goodness of the Lord.

Synonyms for 'taste': Perceive, Discern, Savor (upon the {spiritual} tongue); Understanding, Desire, Heart; Appreciate, Have Knowledge Of.

When I seek God, I want to know more than I already know. I started studying deeply before I became a minister of the Word. Just reading my Bible every day wasn't enough: I had to know, I craved the meat of the Word because I was growing up in Him exponentially. I still am. Some days I run, some days I walk, but every day I am in the Word. It is as much a part of me as breathing is.

Philippians 1:20-21
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have complete boldness so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. or to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

Christ Reveals Himself to Us

John 14:21

Whoever has My commandments and keeps (guards) them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father. And I will love him and reveal Myself to him.

Exodus 33:18

Then Moses said, "Please show me Your glory."

Proverbs 8:17

I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me.

Seeking God early in our life is the best way to live God's Word. But when we fail to do that, then each new day becomes an opportunity to begin again, to start over, early in the morning.

Wake up. Thank God for waking us up and keeping us through the night. Morning stretches. Thank God for the ability to move and breathe.

Get out of bed. Stand up. Praise God continuously. Read your Bible or daily devotional or both. Thank God for the ability to read. And thank God for the Spirit who reveals God in God's Word, who reveals Jesus Christ to us; who reveals the mystery of God through the gospel of salvation which God planned from the beginning.

Genesis 3:15 God tells the serpent his fate for his part in the deception of Adam and Eve: And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.

Romans 16:20 further enhances Genesis 3:15 - The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.

1 Corinthians 15:54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come to pass: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their Shepherd. 'He will lead them to springs of Living Water,' and 'God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.'"

Rejoice! early. Praise God early! Seek God's face early! Rise up from your deathbed and glorify God early! Now is the time of your salvation! Now is the day of your redemption!

Seeker Seeking Mercy

SEEKER SEEKING MERCY

Psalm 25:15-16

My eyes are always on the LORD, for He will free my feet from the mesh. Turn to me and be gracious, for I am lonely and afflicted.

When the enemy of our souls lays a trap to try and snare us in his clutches, God will surely make a way for us to escape.

Psalm 119:32

Turn to me and show me mercy, as You do to those who love Your name.

God will show favor to we  who seek Him and deliver us out of the traps/snares. Why? Because of His great love for us, because His mercy endures for ever. The Bible tells me so: Psalm 136.

Isaiah 55:6

Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.

"Call on Him while He is near" for the time will come when He is no longer near. Though God is always near the believer, He will not always be near enough to the unbeliever to hear his cries for deliverance and mercy.

"To day is the day of your salvation." To day is the only day to answer God's call on your heart and life, because tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Don't wait, don't hesitate, don't delay.

The love of God has been extended to us through His mighty right arm, "the right hand of His righteousness", Jesus Christ.

Faith is believing the impossible, the improbable. Who but God can turn His Word into a baby who would grow up to be a Savior for the whole world? No one. Improbable. Impossible. And, yet. God did.

Blessed Seeker_Psalms

Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, that seek Him with the whole heart.
Psalm 119:2

Each word on the signs in the above poster are synonymous with the word 'testimonies'. It is a covenant term regarding the requirements the LORD set up.
  • Psalm 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are Mercy and Truth unto such as keep His commandments.
  • Deuteronomy 4:45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt.
  • Deuteronomy 8:6 Therefore you shall keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in His ways, and to fear (reverent fear) Him
  • Joshua 22:5 But take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all His Ways, and to keep His commandments, and to cleave unto Him, and to serve Him with all your heart, and with all your soul.
In point of fact, when we read all the way through Psalm 119, we see that this whole chapter focuses on the thoughts that begin this chapter: Walking in the Law of the LORD. For instance, how many different times is each word that is synonymous with the word testimonies used?
  • LAW(S)
  • TESTIMONIES/TESTAMENT
  • STATUTES
  • MERCY, MERCIES, MERCIFUL
  • TRUTH
  • PRECEPTS
  • COMMANDMENTS
  • WAYS
  • WORD
  • ORDINANCE(S)
  • JUDGMENT(S)
Now while this next word may not be synonymous with Testimonies, it surely refers to Who our Testimony Is:
  • SURETY
I'm taking note of each time, but if you want to know, then I suggest you read through this chapter carefully. The psalmist is making promises to His God each time he says "I". It's personal. And when we are declared to be His people, The Blessed, then The Word of God becomes personal to us, too. It's more than a read Word, it's an applied Word, a daily living Bread Word, a spoken with power and authority Word.

God's Ways are an important concept to live by, but can only be lived faithfully by believing in Christ for our Savior: He Is, after all, the Bread of Life. Psalm 34:8 "O taste and see that the LORD Is Good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him." John 6:33, 35 "For the bread of God is He which comes down from heaven and gives life unto the world." ...... "And Jesus said unto them, "I Am the Bread of Life: he that comes to Me shall never hunger; and he that believes on Me shall never thirst."

What are you going to do with this Bread?
