Matthew 24:14
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world
for a witness unto all nations;
and then shall the end come.
This gospel which Jesus had been teaching and expounding on in all His ministry. This gospel message of repentance. The kingdom gospel.
Matthew 4:23
Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
Mark 1:15
“The time is fulfilled,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe in the gospel!”
Luke 4:43
And He said unto them, "I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent."
What is this gospel of the kingdom? Repentance is needed because we are all sinners. And Whom do we direct our repentant heart towards? To God, yes, but how do we reach God? Through the sacrificial outpouring of Christ's blood on the cross. We recognize that we are all sinners when we understand what sin is: deliberate disobedience to God's commandments and laws and statutes: His principles for living in His holy kingdom.
We are all born unholy, with a sin nature; this nature prevents us from being fully in God's presence. For God is holy and evil cannot abide (take up residence) with the glory of God. [Leviticus 19:2; Hebrews 12:14]. Therefore, we come to the realization that we are unable to attain such holiness on our own. We need a mediator to intercede for us.
We need Jesus Christ. He is The Mediator Who intercedes for His people. [Hebrews 9:15; 12:24]. How do we become His people that He may be our intercessor, as well?
None of us are righteous under our own merit. Nor can we obtain the righteousness which belongs to God unless we believe that His Christ is Lord. We have a fallen inherent nature, which we received from our father Adam. We need a revived, renewed nature, which we receive from our Savior Jesus Christ.
When we believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, the joy of being saved, fills our hearts and we are so overwhelmed by it that we must speak it out loud. Now we have obtained the righteousness of Christ through His death on the cross.
No more does death have a hold over us. Now God has given us the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Now we are saved from the condemnation which was on the sin nature. Having been born once in our natural lives, now we are born again in eternal life; we are new creations. Now we have become citizens in God's kingdom. But it doesn't stop there.
As citizens in God's kingdom, we have responsibilities. Each of us is given a task in His kingdom. Our primary task is to preach the gospel to all the world [Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 9:16; Romans 10:14,15]. Every time we share Jesus with someone, every time we share our testimony of His saving grace on us, we are evangelizing. Look What The Lord Has Done.
Some of us are preachers of the gospel, some of us are teachers of the gospel. Some of us are church planters (apostles). Some of us are prophets, Spirit-gifted messengers who speak the inspired Word from God, usually relating to a specific time or place or person.
Some of us are helpers, giving and rendering aid where aid is needed, regardless of where we are when we help, and who we are helping in the kingdom of God. Being a helper is not to be considered a lowly task, for God honors those who serve The Son. Servants, helpers, we must be in God's kingdom.
We are preaching the gospel of the kingdom. We press toward the mark, the goal, of being finally free of all of life's encumbrances by forsaking the things of this world and embracing fully the things of God in His kingdom. Our faith in God through Christ Jesus refuses to be dissuaded by mere earthly values.
Many will rise up against us. Many will act upon their discontent, loathing and hatred of Christians. Many will mock (make fun of, parody), torment, torture, and kill God's people for the sake of the cross and The Christ Who was on it.
But we will not back down, nor will we retaliate in the same way in which we are being assaulted. We are God's people and we will respond in the love of God through Jesus Christ to any and all who seek to harm or stop us from sharing the love of God in Christ.
Because God has forgiven us much, we are able, through the indwelling presence of Jesus Christ, through God's Holy Spirit, to forgive anyone who sins against us. We do not do so grudgingly, but willingly. Being fully aware of how much God has forgiven us, and how much God loves us, we continue to share the gospel message of repentance and following Christ.
Jesus Christ is the kingdom of God [Luke 17:20,21]. In Christ we live, and move, and have our being. [Acts 17:28]. The kingdom of God is righteousness, peace, and joy in The Holy Spirit [Romans 14:17]. The Lord is my Righteousness [Romans 3:25]. The Lord is Peace [Judges 6:24; Ephesians 2:14]. Joy in The Holy Spirit [Psalm 16:11; John 15:11; 1 Peter 1:8].
The gospel of the kingdom is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. First given to the Jews, then to the rest of the world. The power of God is activated within us when we believe that Jesus Christ is Lord. It is nothing to be ashamed of, nor is it to be taken lightly. I rejoice in my salvation. And my hope is that you do, too.
Romans 1:16
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
