Acts 3:25
You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham,
The genealogy listed in Matthew 1 is important and should not be skipped over when reading our Bibles. This is the birth order of each chosen son in the line of Abraham until the birth of Christ, but not always the firstborn son.
Being The Seed of Abraham, Christ is also The Son of Promise. This is a more important lineage and legacy, for only the seed can inherit the kingdom of God.
In Abraham's seed the whole world is blessed: every nation, every race, every tribe, every language. Because God loves the whole world and sent His Son to die for them. Christ is our Blessing, our New Covenant, with God and from God and in God.
This New Covenant is made at the cross. 2 Corinthians 3:6 "He has qualified us [making us sufficient] as ministers of a new covenant [of salvation through Christ], not of the letter [of a written code] but of the Spirit; for the letter [of the Law] kills [by revealing sin and demanding obedience], but the Spirit gives life." (Amplified Bible)
The One creating the covenant sets the terms of the covenant. The one agreeing to the covenant enters into it, agreeing with the terms, and abiding by them. It's a contract which The Creator has set up to redeem His creation from the hands of the lying thief Satan; and to deliver these created people (us) from the wrath which God has prepared for Satan and his angels. [Matthew 25:41; Isaiah 66:24; Jude 1:7; Hebrews 10:26,27; Revelation 20:10].
The New Covenant
Hebrews 8:6,7
6. But when Christ came as High Priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation.
7. He did not enter by the blood of goats and calves, but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, thus securing eternal redemption.
Hebrews 7:27,28
27. Unlike the other high priests, He does not need to offer daily sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people; He sacrificed for sin once for all when He offered up Himself.
28. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed The Son, Who has been made perfect forever. [Psalm 110:4].
I'm so excited! Such Love God has shown us in His New Covenant! Everyone who has truly ever trusted in God for their salvation has entered into this agreement through the blood of God's perfect Lamb. [John 1:29; Isaiah 53:7; 1 Peter 1:19]. Even the saints in the Old Testament. For Christ entered hell and defeated hell, death, and the grave. All the OT saints came out of their graves and were seen by hundreds of people. [Matthew 27:52,53].
There's no other way to escape the judgment that is coming. [2 Peter 2; Revelation 19 & 20]. Except to believe that Jesus Christ is Lord; that He is God's Only Begotten Son; that He is God's plan of salvation; that He is God's Perfect Lamb. He's the escape route out of hell and He is the gateway into heaven. [John 3:16-18; John 14:6].
It is not enough to believe in God only, we must also believe that God's Word is True: ALL OF IT, not just a little bit and a little bit there. Many people believe in the God of the Bible, but very few believe that God's Word is Truth. Sifting through The Word of God and picking out only the palatable parts is like eating only the frosting and not the cake. It tastes good but it does nothing for you.
The Spirit of God works with the church bringing the Good News of the New Covenant to all who have yet to hear it. Together He and we call out to they who are seeking a better way of life, "Come."
Revelation 22:17
And The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come.' And let him that hears say, 'Come.' And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take The Water of Life freely.
