Heart & Soul - - Anointed By God

1 John 2:20
But you have an unction from the Holy One, and you know all things.

*Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 5545
Unction: anointing
From the Greek word 'chrisma' (pronounced khris'-mah) (from 5548 /xríō, "anoint with oil"Referring to the teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit, guiding the receptive believer into the fullness of God's preferred-will. [This anointing functions through faith (4102 /pístis), i.e. God inwardly persuading the believer of His preferences.]

The Holy Spirit is that unction, that unguent, poured out on the Christians. He is represented in Scripture as Wind (1 Chronicles 14:15; Acts 2:2), Breath of God (John 20:22), Dove (John 1:32), Rain (Hosea 6:3; James 5:7), Fire (Acts 2:3) and Oil (1 John 2:20).
The Spirit is the Oil of Joy: exuberant joy, wild joy, delight (Hebrews 1:9). God anoints us (2 Corinthians 1:21-22) with His Holy Spirit to accomplish the work He has set forth for His people to do (Luke 4:18-21, referring to Christ's anointing) and Acts 2:8, power to witness). The Holy Spirit is only given to God's people, none other are qualified to receive Him.
Having been born anew, experienced a new birth through the power of God's Holy Spirit and through the water, we are privileged to live our lives through Him, in Him and with Him. To serve God is one of the greatest honors we will ever know. The first greatest honor He bestowed on us was the gift of salvation through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. We are covered with His righteousness by placing our faith in Him.
The Holy Spirit is not the anointer: He is the anointing, our anointing. We are anointed with the Oil of Healing (Matthew 11:5). We are anointed with the Oil of Power to Preach the Gospel  (Isaiah 61:1. We are anointed with the Spirit of Wisdom ().
This anointing is for us, our children and our grandchildren; it is also conditional (Isaiah 59:20-21; Isaiah 44:3). This anointing of the Holy Spirit is the baptism of the Spirit given by Christ to His disciples, His followers (John 1:33; Acts 2:1-4).
God anoints His servants with His precious Holy Spirit to work in power and complete the works in Him. What are these works which only the anointing empowers? 1 Corinthians 12 outlines the different diversities of gifts in the Spirit. Whatever we do in the Spirit is not done just for ourselves but for all of us ( 1 Corinthians 12:7).
We are the body of Christ and the body has different functions, but all work together for the good of the body. Whether we speak of our physical bodies or our spiritual body. For in the Spirit there is one body and that is the body of Christ. As He served and suffered for us during He ministry here, we, too, now serve and suffer as His body for the benefit of each of us.
When one part of the body ceases to function in the way in which it was created to function, other parts of the body must step up and fill the void, if possible. We lose a limb, that limb can be replaced to some degree. But if a major organ fails, then the whole body fails. This is true in the body of Christ, as well.
When our hearts are not working in the way in which they should be, then we need a new heart. And God provides one. He removes the heart of stone and replaces it with a fleshy heart, a heart that can be molded and written on (Ezekiel 11:19-20; Jeremiah 32:39; 2 Corinthians 3:3). And in this new heart, God, His Christ and His Holy Spirit take up residence (John 14:23).
But because our hearts are unclean, this new heart, this new birth, must wash away our uncleanness, our sins, our unrighteousness. Every little nook and cranny must be dusted, cleaned and repaired that there are no breaches where the enemy of our souls can enter in.
Lord, let this anointing be made full in me that I might finish my race, my course with grace and humility. Guide me through the obstacles in my path on this journey You have set me on. Be my Guide, my Light, my Oil as I walk Your Word out in my life. While I long to wear the crowns of victory You have set up for me, even more so, let me see Your smiling face when You call my name to the supper table. May I be Your good and faithful servant until then. Amen.

Arming The Spiritual Warrior -- The Spirit

 1 Thessalonians 5:19
Quench not the Spirit.

*Strong's Ex. Con. No. 4570
Quench: extinguish, suppress, thwart
To put out the fire.

It is impossible to accomplish the task(s) which God has given us without the guidance of His Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:12 "We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." In Revelation 22:17 the Spirit and the Bride are calling the lost souls to repentance together, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

No one can give us what only God can give us. And that includes His Holy Spirit. Matthew 25:8 "And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves." The oil is the Holy Spirit. We must have Him with us when Christ returns for His church. We cannot share Him, the anointing which God gives each of us individually, with each other. Acts 2:3 "And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them." He will leave this earth, when we leave this earth.

Who is the Holy Spirit?
He is the Spirit who helped create the world from the beginning. Genesis 1:2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters."
He is the Spirit which guided the hearts, the mouths and the hands of the men who wrote, put into print, the Holy Scriptures. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Peter 1:20, 21 "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
He is the Interpreter. 1 Corinthians 2:13 "And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words."
He is the Comforter. {*Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 3875 Consoler, Helper.}
John 14:26 "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and will bring to your remembrance all things that I have said to you." John 16:7 "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you."
He is the baptism of Godly power. Acts 1:5, 8 "For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” "But you will receive power, the Holy Spirit having come upon you, and you will be witnesses for Me, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth."
He is the convictor of sin. John 16:8-11 "And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will no longer see Me; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world has been condemned."

*Strong's Ex. Conc. No. 3076
Grieve: distress, vex, cause to sorrow, to experience deep emotional pain,
How do we quench the Holy Spirit? By not listening to Him. Ephesians 4:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." Isaiah 63:10 "But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit. So He turned and became their enemy, and He Himself fought against them." By insulting Him. Hebrews 10:29 "How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?"

Don't put out the Holy Spirit of God. Listen to Him and follow His lead. Let Him lead us to the cross, to the garden and into the eternal presence of God.

Arming The Spiritual Warrior -- Our Helmet and Our Sword

Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

The Helmet of Salvation
1 Thessalonians 5:8
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of our hope of salvation.
Psalm 140:7
O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, You shield my head in the day of battle.
Psalm 27:1
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved!

In order to wear the Helmet of Salvation we have to be born again believers, faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

The Sword of The Spirit
Hebrews 4:12
For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Jeremiah 23:29
"Is not My word like fire," declares the LORD, "and like a hammer that smashes a rock?"

The Word of God
Psalm 119:105
Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet, and a Light unto my path.
Jeremiah 15:16
Thy Words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by Thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
John 1:1. 14
In the beginning was THE WORD, and THE WORD was with God, and THE WORD was God.
And THE WORD was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

And in order to carry the Sword of the Spirit, The Word of God, we have to know the Word of God before we can speak it earnestly and sincerely, with love and compassion towards the hearers of the Word of God.

2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Peter 1:10
Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

That Bible sitting on your shelf needs to be opened and read, read with understanding. But if we want to understand the Word of God when we read it and study it, we need not only to be born again believers, but Spirit-filled born again believers. Once we have the two basic tools required (Salvation through Jesus Christ and being filled with The Spirit) to advance in our understanding and knowledge of the Word, then and only then can we reach the next step of preparation in becoming an effective and fervent Spiritual Warrior.

Love Is Holy

God Is Holy
Psalm 99:9
Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at His holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.

God Is Love
1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Therefore, we must conclude that Love Is Holy Because God Is Love.

1 CORINTHIANS 3:17
If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

How do we, as God's temple, get destroyed by others, besides being killed for our faith? By compromising our Biblical values with worldly values, for one.
Another way is by listening, and adhering to, false doctrines which fall into three categories: alternative "Christian" thinking, anti-Christian thinking and legalism (following a bunch of rules).
All of these schools of thought fall under the category of anti-Christ. Anything Satan can do to keep people out of walking the strait and narrow path which God has set up for His people to walk in, he will do.

There is only one GOD, one heavenly Father, unlike any other father we have ever known.
There is only one JESUS CHRIST who is GOD's only begotten Son, who died on the cross in our place taking the punishment for all the sins of the whole world: from times past, times present and times future; Who overcame death, hell and the grave and walked out of the tomb wherein He had been buried: resurrected into a new life and a new body. It is He Who is seated at the right hand of God, interceding on behalf of His people (Psalm 110:1; Colossians 3:1; Romans 8:34). And He's coming back, when His Father sends Him, to collect a holy church (Ephesians 5:25-27)
There is only one Holy Spirit and he is the Holy Spirit of the Holy God, the Holy Spirit of the Holy Christ.

God is Spirit, Jesus is the Word He speaks, the Spirit is the breath by which He speaks the Word.
John 4:24
"God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth."
John 1:1, 14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."
Revelation 2:7, 11, 17, 29; 3:6, 13, 22
"He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches."

Now, knowing our God is holy and knowing He can only live in holiness, we know that his habitations must be holy, as well. When Jesus Christ washes away our sins, they all take up residence within us. We are a holy people (Titus 2:14), and as such, we are a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9), and a holy temple (1 Corinthians 3:16).
So whoever comes against us, as God's people, God's nation, God's temple, God will come against them. And win. Because He is God and His very presence demands holiness. Evil cannot withstand holiness. It will be rooted out and burned up.

Forged In The Fire- A Four Part Series

Becoming A Weapon of Warfare
in The Hands of The Master
Malachi 3:2-3
But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap.
And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

The Fire
What Fire Is:
Fire is God’s presence and power--Lev. 6:13  Fire is God’s judgment and consumes everything that is not of God--Deut. 4:24; Heb 12:29
What Fire Does:
Fire guides and leads--Ex. 3:2-12; Ex. 13:21
Fire purges, illuminates God’s Word, purifies and empowers--Acts 2:3-4
Trial by Fire: A test of one’s abilities to perform well under pressure
Baptism by Fire: (1) In Christianity, the penetration of the Holy Ghost into the human spirit to purify, consecrate and strengthen it. (2) Any initiating ordeal or experience. (3) A soldier’s first experience of battle.
Holiness imparted through baptism of fire of the Holy Ghost.
Dan. 3:16, 24-27 Holy Fire only burns up what is not of God.

A Sacrifice of Praise

Hebrews 16:15
"By (through) him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name."

Sacrifice: to surrender or give up some thing for the sake of something else; atonement, relinquish, offering, yield, surrender.

From Strong's Exhaustive Concordance:
2378 thysía – properly, an offering (sacrifice); an official sacrifice prescribed by God; hence an offering the Lord accepts because offered on His terms.

If what we are offering to God is not acceptable to God then God will not receive it. The offerings we bring to God must be according to God's Word in order for God to receive it into Himself.

When Elijah challenged the prophets of Ba-al to build an altar to prove who the real God is, the fire of God fell on Elijah's altar which he had built according to God's instructions. Fire did not fall on the godless prophets' altar because there was no adequate sacrifice on their part. Fire does not fall on empty altars.
We need to make sure our sacrifice is acceptable to God before we bring it to Him that He might receive it unto Himself. Our hearts need to be right with Him: Christ Jesus needs to be living there; the Holy Spirit needs to be there, guiding us through God's Word, bringing it to life, breathing it into our spirits and inscribing it onto our hearts.
When we bring to the altar that which God asks of us, then He will accept not only our sacrifice, but our praise, as well.

Psalm 141:2
"May my prayer (intercession [prayers for others], supplication [petition humble prayer], hymn [song of praise to God's name and glory]) be set before You like incense [burning sacrifice, sweet aroma, fumigation], my uplifted hands (beacon, raising up, present, utterance) like the evening offering (donation, tribute, sacrificial offering)."

And, yes, it will be difficult at times to be obedient and faithful.
But nowhere does it say that walking this walk
and talking this talk will be easy.
But it will be worth it.

With One Accord

Acts 2:1-4
"And when the day of Pentecost was full come, they were all with one accord in one place.
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it was upon each of them.
And they were all filled with The Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as The Spirit gave them utterance."

The Day of Pentecost is exactly 50 days after the end of the last day of Passover. But was Passover for? Well, in Exodus 12:43=Moses was given the Law of Passover to share with the people of God, and we find that Passover is not a 'what', but an 'it'.

V. 43: No stranger could eat it
V. 44: Every man's servant whose freedom was bought had to be circumcised first before partaking in it
V. 45: A foreigner and a hired servant could not eat it
V. 46: The Passover was for each household. The whole of the lamb must be consumed with no bones broken.
V. 47: All the congregation of Israel is to keep the Passover.
V. 48: When a stranger visits, and keeps the Passover, every male must be circumcised, then that stranger may draw near to the Passover and keep it; "he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof".
V. 49: One law for both the the homeborn and the stranger that lives among us

Why is it important to know such things when we are hundreds of years past The Book of Exodus? Knowing what I know and wanting to know more, it is important to me to not just read my Bible but study it out. Therefore, I know that each of these laws can be confirmed elsewhere in the Bible.

Exodus 12 describes the Passover in detail. It is important that you open your Bible and read therein, as well. The Passover was not just partaking in the unblemished (v 5) lamb, but the blood of the lamb was to be applied to the doorposts of their homes (v 7). For death would sweep through Egypt, and where the blood was applied, death would pass over that household. And they were to remember this day every year with a feast unto to The LORD, through all generations.

You know why it is important to know this? To understand what happened in the beginning of New Testament times, at the end of Christ's ministry and the beginning of The Holy Spirit's ministry.
For with Christ's ascension into heaven He gave them one more word, one more thing they must do: "You shall receive power, after that The Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." (Acts 1:8).

And it is in Acts 1:14 that we find they who wanted this power, the disciples and the women who also followed Christ, gathered together, praying for this Holy Ghost power which Christ had promised them. Which brings us to Acts 2:1-4.

With one accord and in one place
A sound from heaven as of a mighty rushing wind, which filled all the house
Cloven tongues like fire upon each one of them
All filled with The Holy Ghost
All speaking in other tongues, as The Spirit gave

In verse 5-12 we see that this power was immediately put forth. Each Israelite and stranger who had gathered in Jerusalem for the Passover heard the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ in his own native tongue. You can imagine the shock and awe effect that was upon all who heard these men and women proclaiming the gospel boldly and with such passion!

Where is our passion? Where is our fire? Where is our boldness?

"Lord, rekindle me. Light the fire of  Your Holy Spirit within my heart that I might be filled with Your passion for the lost. Give to my tongue boldness of speech, without fear of reprisal. Fill me to day. And let this my prayer be each day until Your return or You call me home." Amen.

A Church On Fire

A church on fire will accomplish great things. But the fire must be of God, that it might consume and burn up all that is not of God. Hebrews 12:29.

The fire must be of God and fulfill God's requirements in order to fall where God desires 1 Kings 18:30-39 & Acts 1:13-15; 2:1

Shut Up In My Bones

02172013

Shut Up In My Bones
Jeremiah 20:7-13

This section of Scriptures tells of Jeremiahs travails, when he has brought God's Word to God's People.
Not everyone who says “I am a Christian” really is a Christian. There are many out in the world that claim to be something they are not in order to draw people who are looking for the Savior away from the truth. Some people just want to hear the fluff and not the stuff. We cannot follow God halfway.
To follow in Jesus' footsteps I must be willing to follow Him everywhere.

Jeremiah was young and inexperienced when God called him to preach. He had difficulty speaking clearly, and had to choose his words carefully in order to speak at all. But God told Jeremiah that it was for this purpose He created Jeremiah; God knew him before He formed him. Jeremiah was sanctified within his mother's womb and ordained by God to be a prophet to the nations (Jer. 1:5).

It is Jeremiah's job, as God's chosen servant, to preach repentance and deliverance to the nations to whom God has sent him (Jer. 3:22). But the people said chose not to fear The Lord and went about their own ways, continuing in their sins against God. They prefer to believe the lies coming out of the mouths of those who lead them by their own understanding and not by God's Word (Jer. 5:31; 6:8).

As it was in the days of Joshua, the command was given to choose whom they would obey and serve. Joshua 24:14, 15 “Now therefore fear The Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye The Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve The Lord, choose ye this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve The Lord. And the people answered and said, 'God forbid that we should forsake The Lord, to serve other gods.' “

There are times in the Bible where the people say “we will serve The Lord” and times where their response is “we will not”. This, in Jeremiah, is of the second. God tells Jeremiah that the people will not listen and their hearts will only become harder. As Jeremiah continues to preach regardless of their attitudes towards God and God's Word, he feels weak and alone and begins to have another conversation with God, here in chapter 20 verses 7-13.

He acknowledges that God is stronger than he is. He feels he has been deceived. He states that he is held in derision and mocked by every one. When he speaks, when he cries out, when he tells of the violence and the spoil that is to come because of their unwillingness to repent of their wickedness, he is made a reproach and a derision, on a daily basis. Now, remember, this is Jeremiah being honest with God when he is praying, speaking to God.

Jeremiah says, 'I will not speak of Him, nor speak any more in His Name.' BUT God's Word was shut up in Jeremiah's bones. Though he tried not to speak The Word, The Holy Spirit of God was upon him to speak It and when he opened his mouth, God's Word came out of it. He heard the Word of God defamed, and felt fear on every side; not for the Word of God but because of The Word that was spoken. And still they did not repent. Those who had heard the message many times had hopes that now they could turn Jeremiah to their ways and then take him down.
BUT The Lord is with Jeremiah. For now that Jeremiah has again spoken The Word of God and been made known clearly that God is with him and that The Spirit of God is with him, he is not afraid of the ones who have mocked him or held The Word of God in such low regard. “But The Lord is with me as a MIGHTY TERRIBLE ONE”. Romans 8:31 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Those who have come against the preaching of The Word will not prevail. They will stumble, they will be greatly ashamed and they will not prosper; they will have everlasting confusion. God will have His vengeance on them.

And now we are called to worship The Lord, to praise The Lord. Why? Because He has delivered our souls from the hands of the evildoers. Those who would do evil against God and God's people.

So I say to you who preach the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, continue in your work. Let no one say that you do not have the right to speak thus. For when God calls a person to preach The Word, to evangelize, to teach, to proclaim, to pastor, to sing, to help, to build churches, God also anoints and equips people whom He has called. He will not leave us nor forsake us; God is ever with the people who choose to remain in His service.

God hears the prayers of the righteous, the 'once-I-was-a-sinner-but-now-I'm-saved-by-grace saint. He cannot hear the prayers of those who refuse to obey His Word. Do you want God to hear the prayers of your heart? Then you need to repent of your disobedient ways and receive the forgiveness which God has in store for you. I can pray for you, but only you can repent on your own behalf. You need to humble yourself before God and ask Him to forgive you. Tell Jesus you want Him to be Lord of your life; no longer do you want to do things your way, but now you want to do things God's way. Tell Him in your own words, from your heart. Because God knows your heart. If the words in your mouth are not matching the thoughts of your heart, then you are a liar, and God knows the truth is not really in you, that you are not ready to repent and turn away from your sins.

Now is the time to repent of your sins. Turn your back on sin and turn your heart to God. There is no other way to please God and have Him hear your prayers. This is the truth of God's Word, of God's heart. For it is God's desire that all mankind be saved. But it must be done on an individual basis. I can't do it for you, but I can pray that you make this decision.

I am healed, I am healed.

I am filled with awe and wonder
I am healed with joy and grace
I am dancing deep in spirit
For I walk in power in this place

When the Spirit of the Lord is on me
I can sing in power and peace
For the Lord my God, my Creator
Lives and breathes inside of me.

I am healed with joy and grace
I am dancing deep in spirit
For I walk in power in this place

For the flame of God within me
Is consuming all of me
That the light of my Salvation
Is the only life you see
