Knowledge of The Word of God is retained in the heart of the prudent, not the mind.
Who is prudent? The person who is able to discern what is being heard by the ear of the wise, when hearing The Word of God being spoken. How do we discern knowledge of The Word of God? Through The Holy Spirit. Without Him in this equation, there is no knowledge of The Word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All Scripture is given by inspiration (the breath, which is to say, The Holy Spirit) of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
Knowledge of The Word of God is attained by the ear of the heart of the prudent. Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by The Word of God." It is not just the ear of the hearing that can hear The Word of God, but the ear of the deaf, as well; for it is the ear of the heart of the prudent that must hear The Word of God and take it into the heart for safekeeping.
It is The Spirit of God which reveals The Word of God to us. We need The Holy Spirit of God to translate The Word of God to our hearts. A person who lacks Spirit-filled discernment will read The Holy Bible, The Scriptures, and take them at face value, if they take them at all. It is why there is so much differentiation in doctrinal values in the various denominations. The un-Spirit filled person will read into The Holy Bible whatever he or she wants to and use it for personal advantage or to lead others seekers away from The Truth of God's Word.
Each of us needs to read The Bible with understanding of this fact. It is not enough to just read through The Bible in a year or read a little bit every day, if we are not going to ask The Holy Spirit for His help.
