Today's Word -- WAIT

Prepositions are important. What are prepositions? From  WaldenU we get a proper definition: A preposition is a word or group of words used before a noun, pronoun, or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location, spatial relationships, or to introduce an object.

When we study out the word WAIT, the preposition after it shows us what it means in that particular verse.

Psalm 27:14
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

To wait on the Lord is to WAIT FOR the Lord to lead us in the right direction, to speak what He wants us to hear. As a good private, we wait for our General to command us where to go and how to get there. We know He is leading an army because the next phrase in this sentence tells us to 'be of good courage' and He (the Lord) will strengthen our hearts [so that we will not fear but be emboldened and follow Him]).

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

To WAIT UPON the Lord in this verse means to 'twist [together, like a rope], to endure, to stretch'; to look eagerly for, to patiently watch for together. The implication here being that we, as a group, as the church, are to anticipate with joy the coming of the Lord, knowing that (Nehemiah 8:10) "The joy of the Lord is our Strength". Are we doing so? Is eager anticipation to meet Jesus Christ on His return filling our minds, our hearts? Or do you have fear and trepidation?

If you know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, having believed that He Is Lord, that He died for you on the cross; conquered death, hell and the grave; walked out of the tomb with a glorified body, then joy and anticipation surely fill your soul, your heart and your mind. For you have endeavored to have a personal relationship with your Savior.
But if fear and terror fill your mind at the thought of meeting Christ and God one on one, with the knowledge that you will be judged for your unbelief and your wicked ways, then you need to repent now and call upon The Name of The Lord to forgive you.
That way of life you think is okay to live is surely your choice, as it was mine so long ago. But if it is not a godly lifestyle, aligning itself with The Word of God, then there needs to be a change. Not just a change of how you are living, but a change of heart that changes your motivation for living.
Are you content? Do you know real peace? Do you crave a happy life? Yes, being a Christian is hard. Yes, living a holy, godly lifestyle may be difficult at first. People will stop loving you, stop associating with you, stop talking to you, stop hanging out with you. It is not to attain a holier-than-thou attitude, but to be completely aware that without the grace of God through Jesus Christ we are utterly and totally lost in our sins. But it's so worth it to be friends with Christ Jesus.

Brought Down and Fallen

Psalm 20:6-8

Now know I that the Lord saveth His anointed;
He will hear him from His holy heaven
With the saving strength of His right hand.
Some trust in chariots,
and some in horses:
But we will remember the name
of the Lord our God.
They are brought down
and fallen: but we
Are risen and stand upright.

"Not by might, nor by power but by My Spirit",saith the Lord. (Zechariah 4:6) We are on all sides attacked. On the eastern borders of our kingdom is out and out hatred for the God we serve and represent. Perhaps we have done a poor example of representation. No, no perhaps about it. We have failed in our ambassadorial positions. Wolves in sheep's clothing claiming to be Christians and followers of Christ have been mistaken for actual ambassadors.

We have done nothing to stop this infiltration, but sleep in our pews and slumber in our beds. Where is the Warrior-Bride whom Christ is returning for? She is no sleeping beauty to be awakened by love's kiss! We need to be on our knees seeking God's face! Seeking His forgiveness for our laziness, our carelessness, our disobedience. Our slack has caused our downfall.

O God, forgive us our trespasses as we forgives those who trespass against us. We have not sought our daily Bread, nor thirsted for Living Water. We have settled for dung heaps and putrid water. Make us over, Lord; wash us clean; seize our hearts and our minds and fill us completely with Yourself. Use us to the advancement of Your kingdom. Breathe not only in us, but through us into another. And another. And another................

Psalm 18:3 I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies. v 6,7 .. my cry came before Him, even into His holy ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because He was wroth. v32 It is God that girds me with strength. v34 He teaches my hands to war. v35 Thy right hand has held me up. v37 I have pursued and overtaken my enemies.

It is God who strengthens in times of battle, in times of war. It is God who saves from certain destruction. It is God who teaches us to fight, to overcome. In the presence of my enemies, it is God who saves me. It is God who loves me and gives me His heart's desire. It is God. And none other.

Caleb's Song

CALEB'S SONG

I AM A WARRIOR
I WILL FIGHT FOR YOU
I AM A FIGHTER
I WILL DIE FOR YOU

I WILL TAKE UP MY SWORD
AGAINST OUR ENEMY
I WILL LIFT UP MY SHIELD
FOR HIS ATTACKS ON ME

FOR I SEE WITH MY HEART
AND I RUN WITH MY SPIRIT
ONTO THE BATTLEFIELD
CARNAGE EVERYWHERE

I WANT THAT MOUNTAIN
GOD GAVE IT TO ME
EVERY STEP I TAKE
FOR ALL ETERNITY

I CAN FIGHT THE GIANTS
I CAN WRESTLE THEM
BUT IF THEIR SEEDS STILL LIVE
I WON'T WIN

I AM A WARRIOR
I GO TO BATTLE FOR YOU
I AM A FIGHTER
I WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

I HAVE MADE MY STAND
AND I WON'T RETREAT
TILL YOU REMOVE YOUR HAND
AWAY FROM ME

FOR I SEE WITH MY HEART
AND I RUN WITH MY SPIRIT
ONTO THE MOUNTAINTOP
GLORY EVERYWHERE

I CAN SEE YOU CLEARLY
I CAN HEAR YOUR VOICE
I CAN KNEEL IN WONDER
THAT YOU'VE MADE ME YOUR CHOICE

I AM SERVANT
TO THE MOST HIGH GOD
I AM HUMBLED
BY THE MOST HIGH GOD
UNDER THE WEIGHT OF YOUR GLORY
I AM PRESSED
AND IN THE SHADOW OF MERCY
I AM BOWED

IN THE TRUTH OF REFLECTION
I SEE MY NEED
FOR YOU
ONLY YOU
YOU ARE THE MOST HIGH GOD

AND YOU SEE ME
YOU LOVE ME
YOU SAVE ME
EVERYDAY

MORE OF YOU
ON MY MOUNTAINTOP
MORE OF YOU
IN MY MOUNTAIN VIEW
MORE OF YOU
WHEN I STAKE MY CLAIM
ON WHAT YOU
HAVE GIVEN ME

I AM YOUR WARRIOR
I HAVE FOUGHT FOR YOU
I AM YOUR SERVANT
AND I HAVE LIVED FOR YOU
I AM YOUR CHILD,
I AM YOUR SEED,
YOU LIVE IN ME.

Strength in Numbers

It is said that "there is strength in numbers". Which means that the greater your army or team, the greater the impact on the opposition. This is not always true.

Gideon fought with 300 and defeated thousands.

David went into battle with a few hundred and the enemy turned on itself.

When we allow God to fight for us and with us, all we need is 1.

One God, One Savior, One Holy Spirit. The power of three in one is my Strength.
