BANNER
Song of Solomon 2:4
He brought me to the banqueting house, and His Banner over me was Love.
In this love story the king has brought his young bride to his banqueting house, the house of wine. Yet, knowing this is the tale of The King of Kings and His church, we see even more clearly that this not merely a warehouse filled with wine barrels and tasting rooms. This is the place of covenant relationship. It is an intimate relationship. And, therefore, a very special and holy relationship.
Here, The King shelters His bride with His Banner of Protection, with a Love that sacrificed Itself on the altar of the cross. It is here under this Banner that we are enfolded with His wings, given refuge in the stormy times and warmth in the cold of the darkness in which we live.
Here, The King invites His church to follow Him, to walk beside Him. Here The King invites His bride to "Eat this Bread" and "Drink this Wine". [Heavenly Bread--John 6:33, 35, 51; Communion of Remembrance--1 Corinthians 11:23-26]
Here, The King has brought His bride. "He brought me to". We rejoice that Christ has brought us to Himself. We rejoice that our King has made us His own (people). We rejoice that The King loves us so much that He gave His life for us that we might have Eternal Life through Him. [John 3:16; John 11:25, 26].
Here, in this banqueting house, and here, under His Banner of Love, we commit to being His beloved church, joining in His Covenant of Love beyond measure.
